How To Change Load (2 transformers and 2 DG sets)

It is very important to change the load from one transformer to other and from one DG set to other to keep the system healthy. If the loads keep on one transformer for a long period, the breakers, contactors, OLTC may not operate due to idleness. Hence, it is recommended to change the load in a week and at no case, it should not be more than two weeks.

Let One transformer and one DG set is on load.

Procedure to change the load.

  1. Check the DG sets manually. Check the fuel and run manually to test.
  2. Inform the In-charge, team as well as to the users for a short interruption of supply.
  3. After getting the clearance start the process.
  4. Ask lift team to take care of lifts for rescue operation if needed.
  5. Check voltage of both the transformers.
  6. If the voltage is around 415 V, it is good to start the load change.
  7. Otherwise, make the RTCC manual and made the voltage around 415V.
  8. Without Load, check the breaker of the spare DG set is changing the load or not by making OFF that DG set’s AMF panel.
  9. If it is fine, OFF the AMF supply of both the DG sets.
  10. Change the DG load from one to other.
  11. Make the other DG MANUAL AND OFF.
  12. After DG Load Change, change the Transformer load.
  13. Put the RTCC of ON-load transformer in Auto mode.
  14. Check the voltage for 2 minutes.
  15. ON the AMF of ON load DG set, and check the load is taken by Transformer or Not.
  16. If it is fine, make the other RTCC manual.
  17. Down the off load transformer tap to 380 V, for safety.
  18. Make the entry in register.
  19. Check the voltage of load transformer and unloaded transformer.
  20. If you are satisfied, Inform all user that the Load change is done successfully.
